SB 317- PC 4019 Sentence Reduction Credits for time in “1368” treatment

Justice is one of the most important principles of our legal system. It ensures that people are treated fairly and that they receive the consequences or punishments that they deserve. Unfortunately, the justice system is not perfect, and sometimes people who are mentally ill or suffering from addiction can fall through the cracks. That is why Senate Bill No. 317 is so important. The bill amends a section of the penal code to provide full conduct custody credit to prisoners who are confined in or committed to a state hospital or other mental health treatment facility. This will help to ensure that these individuals are given the treatment they need and that they do not end up serving more time than they should. Ultimately, this bill is a step in the right direction towards creating a more just society.

Our office is here to protect you and your loved ones. We will walk you through this process and make sure that you are not alone. The new provisions for conduct credits will entitle you to full actual custody and conduct credits, even if you were housed in a mental health facility for a portion of that time. You need a professional, aggressive team in your corner to protect your rights. Call our office today 626-919-1991. We are here to help you through this difficult time.

SB 317 (Stats. 2021, Ch. 599) Amends PC 4019. For another aspect of SB 317: misdemeanant “1368” treatment replaced with mental health diversion, dismissal or others, see immediately above.
